Harare Institute of Public Health (HIPH) school-leavers have been encouraged to keep abreast with the ever-evolving medicinal landscape.
This was said by Health and Child Care Minister Dr Douglas Mombeshora while officiating the third HIPH graduation ceremony Friday.
Three hundred graduands completed and excelled in their studies pharmacy technicians, dispensary assistants, nursing assistants and public health practitioners.
“As you navigate the complexities of public health, I implore you to embody the spirit of innovation, fostering creative solutions to entrenched challenges.
“Cultivate collaboration, recognizing that collective genius surpasses individual expertise. Embrace life-long learning , stay curious and adaptable in the face of evolving landscapes,” he said. “Remain steadfast in your commitment to your core values, allowing them to guide your decisions and actions. BY embracing these principles, you will not only excel in your careers but also become beacons of positive change, driving progress and improving lives.”
He also commended the Harare Institute of Public Health (HIPH) for introducing a diploma saying it will go a long way in addressing metal health challenges faced by adolescents, particularly those living with HIV.
HIPH, is working alongside Zvandiri in this program. Dr Mombeshora said this partnership helps provide high quality care for adolescents.
“I am delighted to acknowledge a pioneering partnership between ZVANDIRI and the HIPH. This innovative collaboration has led to the development of a groundbreaking Diploma program in Community Adolescent Mental Health and Psychosocial Support. This program address a longstanding gap in our public health systems, providing the much needed training and expertise in adolescent mental health,” the Health Minister said.
He went on to say, “For far too long, our public health systems have been strained to provide adequate support and services for adolescents struggling with mental health issues. This Diploma program is a significant step towards bridging that gap, equipping healthcare professionals with the knowledge, skills and expertise to provide high quality care and support to this vulnerable population.”
Dr Amos Marume, the HIPH Principal said they have been helping their graduates in getting employment in the SADC region.
“We are glad to also announce that our graduates keep finding opportunities in all aspects of professional and academic path, and in all parts of the world.
“Although we are an academic institution, sometimes we also serve more like this in HR consulting, because some employers, contact us for some of our graduates.
“And also, we have committed quite an amount, some for further studies, some for employment in the region and beyond. Changing lives and strengthening our public health systems are some of our key driving forces,” he said.
