The donations of ambulances, wheelchairs and beds by Passion Java and his wife Lilly came at the nick of time when Chitungwiza Central Hospital had several challenges which hampered the provision of quality health care for people in the town.
This was revealed by the Hospital’s authorities in an interview last Saturday when representatives of the Passion Java Ministries and Lilly Java Foundation handed over 25 wheelchairs, two ambulances, hospital beds and blankets.
I mean, we said we are very thankful to Passion Java Ministries and the Lilly Java Foundation. Somehow they knew what we needed, so this is really going to assist us a lot.
“I’m sure even the community will note more efficient services because of these donations. The beds, we had shortage of beds. The wheelchairs were crying. So this is really going to help us a lot. So we are very thankful,” Dr Jonah Kasule, the Hospital’s Clinical Director said. “The impact of the donations can’t be overstated. These donations will serve as lifelines, assisting Chitungwiza to serve our patients swiftly and safely, ensuring timely access to medical care for those in need. I have many stories with me which, because of time, I won’t talk about. We had poor outcomes because we didn’t have transport, we didn’t have wheelchairs and so on to help people in need. But thank you. “
Chitungwiza Central Hospital public relations officer Ms Audrey Tasaranarwo said Passion Java not only donated the ambulances, wheelchairs, the beds and the blankets but pledged to renovate a Hospital ward.
“Passion Java also said he was going to renovate the Male Ward 4 at this hospital,” she said.
She said the donations were overall valued over US$100 000.
A representative from the benefactors, Mahwindo, Passion Java’s sister urged the Hospital not to abuse the donations through over charging clients seeking services.
“As you know, Passion Java hails from Chitungwiza, Seke Unit O area and that is the reason he chose this institution first. As such, may the Hospital appropriately utilize these donations to serve the communities particularly our elderlies,” she said.
Other representatives who came from the US said, “We are here today as representatives form the United States of America for the Lily Java Foundation. The Lily Java Foundation has successfully again donated an ambulance for the hospital. So we bless you with blessings to the people of Chitungwiza and the nation of Zimbabwe.
